Todos Santos, an artist community about 1-1/2 hour drive from Cabo San Lucas, is a pleasant "get-away trip." The best place to begin is The Hotel California. Now this is probably NOT the hotel of Eagles fame, but it is fun to stop, have your photo taken in front, explore the shop inside and have a cool one in the bar. Once you've cleared the dust, it's time to explore. Walk up the street one block to Arte la Xoma. Ask the owner, Daphina to tell some of the stories about the fine artwork inside. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the weaving and copper work. There are also some wonderful Day of the Dead sculptures.
Further up the street, stop off at Frieda Telemans, Galeria Indigo. The art within is original and I promise, there will be something that will inspire you. Frieda will be happy to ship it home.
Whether you're graving a snack or ravenous, Cafe Santa Fe is a must, don't miss this, you will be sorry if you do, place. Ezio and Paula Colombo are the owners. Ezio is a creative genius when it comes to food and art. He and Paula will make sure you leave totally satisfied.
Nuestra Señora del Pilar de Todos Santos, the mission, will inspire you. Enter this simple church and escape to the peace of the sanctuary. There's no rush. Relax before you begin the trip back to Cabo.
